What is the Atlantic Immigration Pilot?

The economy of Atlantic Canada is expanding, and there simply aren’t enough qualified and skilled people to meet the labour demands of the region. This is why the provinces grouped together to create a pathway to permanent residency for foreigners who want to permanently settle and live in Atlantic Canada. The participating provinces are; Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador and Prince Edward Island. The pilot is scheduled to run until 28 February 2021, so we suggest you move quickly to seize your opportunity of securing permanent residency in Canada. Foreign workers in almost every occupation are eligible to become permanent residents under the AIP. Did you know?

You could be eligible for permanent residency through this pilot simply by completing a course at a designated learning institution in Atlantic Canada.
Employers are required by the program to take a more active role in ensuring foreign employees settle and integrate into their communities.
The pilot is a whole new pathway to permanent residency, it is not part of the Provincial Nomination Program or other federal programs.
2,535 candidates have already secured jobs and permanent residency in Canada through this immigration pilot.
An additional 500 spaces for permanent residency have been added this year.

A Student Visa allows you to enter Canada whereas a student permit allows you to study, work and stay in Canada as a student.
Search on various job platforms and choose positions which you qualify for. The key is to make sure the job is permanent and situated in one of the four participating Atlantic Provinces, which will make you eligible for the AIP.
No, you can also be eligible if you complete an academic qualification at a designated post secondary learning institution in Atlantic Canada.
Once you have a valid job offer and a work permit, your employer may be able to assist you in finding suitable housing, as it is one of the requirements of this program.
We would not recommend this. You will only remain eligible for the AIP if you work in one of the four Atlantic provinces.
